Important news about Slobberfest!!

Slobberfest will be back on July 10th 2027!
Slobberfest 2025 was a wonderful event, The best part is seeing so many old and new friends getting together to have fun and help us raise funds for the Basset hound breed we all adore.
I also saw the stress on our core group of volunteers, myself included.
We are takeing this year's, (2026) Slobberfest off to reorganize and catch up on all that running a Basset rescue for 26 yrs involves.
I love Droopy Rescue and all the volunteers that have given so much time to keep DHR able to help Bassets in need. I can’t imagine not being able to say yes to helping senior hounds and giving them a good life for whatever time they have. I love helping all ages of hounds find the right home… being able to give hounds with health issues the med care they need. That is my purpose.
We need this break to regroup and organize to make Slobberfest the fun event it has always been. We, like most volunteer groups out there, need to get more people who can help with pre and post Slobberfest work. The time it takes to put together and plan all that goes into Slobberfest, is more than you can imagine. For the past 26 years we have started planning for the next Slobberfest while we are packing up from the last.
And it seems each year flies by too fast to update our mailing lists along with volunteer, adoptions, Droopy website, the paperwork side of running a rescue also gets overwhelming. Time is needed just to stop and look at past events and see what we can change, and time is needed to list what help we need and how to do what is needed. This is just a few of things that need to be redone, so we can make the planning of Slobberfest 2027 easier (hopefully).
We are doing other types of fundraising that will give us the time needed to catch up,
while continuing to care for the Bassets that need us.
